Johnny Got a Boom Boom

A rockabilly style act full of pin-up
and beefcake poses

This act is a celebration of the rockabilly style, blending retro glamour with high-energy performance. With references to the rockabilly attitude and pin-up models, this act jumps between strength movements (think bicep curls) and girlish seductiveness (cheesecake style burlesque movements) to encapsulate a bygone era.

Irish rockabilly revival singer Imelda May's inspired this act, performed to Big Bad Handsome Man followed by Johnny Got A Boom Boom. The costume moves from a rockabilly look, with a bandana, cardigan and circle skirt, stripped to a pin-up outfit with stockings, suspenders and an underbust corset. The pin-up and rockabilly go hand-in-hand as Western social phenomenoms with iconic styles and statements about women's social standings.
